Seeing Stars was born out of both love and loss. My husband, Cory, and I lost our precious baby girl, Nell Louise Shanks, at 6 weeks old in November of 2025. Creativity has offered my grieving heart an outlet and a way to honor Nell: beautiful works of art for our beautiful girl. Nell means "shining light," and Seeing Stars was named in her honor, a personal reminder to look for the things that bring us joy in their light and an appreciation for the things that endure. It is my delight to share them with you.
After more than a decade in the interior design industry, the last six years running my own firm Line House, my love for curating art for my clients has led me here. Inspired by starlight, beheld now but created long ago, I collect and curate storied treasures of the past, thoughtfully designing and framing them into one-of-a-kind originals for the modern home.
With every collection, a percentage of proceeds is donated to nonprofit organizations dedicated to providing emotional and mental support to families like ours, who have lost a child suddenly and unexpectedly without apparent cause. This shop is our place to create beauty and shine light through giving back, just as Nell continues to do for us and all those who love her.
